One day I saw a friend of mine
whom I had not seen in a while and I thought, "Wow! He really
looks fit. I wonder what he’s doing." During the conversation he
mentioned he was going to Pilates with John. Soon after that, I
was with a friend who had recently moved back from California and
she said she was on her way to Pilates class. I asked where and
she said, "pilates with John." I had not been in an exercise
program in a while and looking at those two friends was enough to
inspire me. Little did I know it would change my life so
incredibly for the better. I started about six months ago and
though I was not overweight, I was not toned or flexible, had
arthritis pain in practically every joint in my body, upper-back
pain that kept me from sitting or standing more than fifteen
minutes at a time, and high blood pressure. Did I mention I’m past
60? -and felt WORSE! Well, now, here I am, a poster-child of
sorts, feeling terrific, looking my best, and raring to go! John
tailored my exercises for my personal problems but made me feel
comfortable in a class full of much younger women and men. I can’t
wait to get there each time, and I think the others are quite
"proud" of my improvement. I take no arthritis medication anymore,
my posture is better than I could ever hope for, my blood pressure
is lower, and my back pain doesn’t exist. I’m beginning to look as
fit as my two friends and when I leave class, I feel as if I’ve
been to the spa instead of a workout. Thank you John, you are my

When I first started Pilates a
year ago, I was a skeptic. As an avid runner and step aerobics
participant, I subscribed to the theory that my workouts had to be
high intensity, sweaty, and cardio based in order to be
beneficial. However as a 40-something woman, the years of pounding
on my joints was taking its toll. I was convinced that although I
didn’t want to give up my current exercise regime, I needed to
supplement it with something good for my body-something that would
build and strengthen it instead of constantly tearing it down. I
found what I was looking for after only two months of Pilates. In
the past year, my body has become stronger, healthier, more
flexible , and more toned, (and for the first time in my life, my
mom isn’t telling me to stand up straighter!) John, thanks for
being so enthusiastic about what you do, and for sharing something
that has become so important in my life.

Hey John,

I had such a great time doing
Pilates with you and Beth. Now I’m back in NYC Pilate-ing away,
but I miss the intensity of your workouts. I think your
personalizing of the Pilates method is quite amazing (the results
of which could be seen in your students’ bodies). And, you have
such a wonderful energy. I know if I lived in Indy, I’d be in your
studio regularly. Thanks for several awesome workouts and a
totally great time.

My goal was to strengthen my
core, sculpt my lower body, maintain my upper body and deepen my
flexibility. John has far exceeded all of my goals. In addition to
giving me a kick butt work out EVERY time, he helps me discover
new things by mixing it up a bit. When I learn a new skill or
exercise I feel that I get additional body benefits! By trying new
things he keeps me motivated and I get better results. I look
forward to my hour with him, 7:30 – 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, every
week. I never thought a work out this challenging could be so much
fun. Great style, great wit, great music… Kudos to John!

I am 28 years old, and have
degenerative disc disorder. I pursued treatment through physical
therapy, chiropractic adjustments, and consulted with several
neurologists and found no relief. Based on my age, no medical
procedure was recommended.

Before ‘Pilates with John, ‘ I
had no developed lower abdominal or back muscles and lived with
acute pain every day. I have noticed a significant change in those
muscles as they continue to get stronger with each and every
class. My pain level has been reduced to less than half of what it
was before. On the occasional day where I do experience increased
pain… .a few Advil before bedtime, and some of my stretches from
class, alleviates most of it.

My life is forever changed
because of John and the motivation and inspiration he brings to
each and every class. In a few months, it will be a year from my
first class. Feeling good both physically and mentally is a choice
that you make each and every day. If you suffer from aches and
pains in certain places in your body, John will help you modify
the movements so that you do no work through any pain. I can
honestly say, ‘Pilates with John’ is the best thing I have ever
done for myself, and my body.

I have been attending classes
and weekly reformer sessions at Pilates with John for a little bit
over one year. John has created a very nurturing and supportive
environment that draws a diverse group of men and women of all
ages, sizes and levels of fitness.

Pilates with John is the best
thing that I do for myself. It is therapeutic on several different
levels. Sometimes it is a calming, meditative experience. Other
times it is as intense as any workout I’ve ever had (and I’ve
tried most of them).

John has helped me extend the
limits of my endurance, flexibility, strength and energy. I also
have good posture for the first time in my life.

In short, one year plus into
it, 1 look forward to my sessions every week. My results have
exceeded my expectations, and I continue to enjoy everything about

I, like many women, have
worked hard to stay in shape as the years march on. Pilates is the
first program, in more than two decades of trying, that has truly
made a difference in the way I look and the way I feel. I have
lost inches everywhere and feel physically better than I have in
years.

John has created a workout
that is right for me. His enthusiasm for Pilates and his
excitement as he begins to see the results in his clients make it
fun. I was resigned to the fact that my body would never change or
significantly improve, but this has done it for me.

Through personal training
sessions with John, I have lost inches, toned my body and improved
my posture. I leave my Pilates sessions with a great sense of
